is it a code violation to use metal straps (EMT) to secure PVC conduits?

I use metal straps for PVC quite often. If it is outside then metal straps are the only way to go, plastic ones WILL be broken in 15 years or so. Use plastic if there will be corrosion problems, like hog confinements, around fertilizer or salt, ect.

Emt straps don't fit though, you need straps for HW or rigid.

EMT straps do not work, have to use straps marked as rigid, or HW, heavy wall as the OD is the same. If corrosion is a issue then NM straps should be used.

PVC straps provide for the PVC's thermal expansion by their snug, but not binding fit.
Metal straps for rigid clamp the conduit tightly.
