PVC Trim & Glue

Quick question, I’ll be mounting my meter can and want it to stand proud of 1x6 lap siding so lap siding can **** up against the pvc trim. At local Lowes it only comes in 3/4 thick so be gluing 1/4 strips to back. Plus will have to glue edge to edge to get width that I need. The glue that they have is in caulking tube, to my question. Does glue in caulking tube actually work and gluing edge to edge, will it really hold and stand test of time?
It’s not easy to get power company to come out, so want get it right first time

I've just used clear pvc pipe primer and glue. No idea on the tubes

Found part of my answer, they can order what I need in 5/4 thickness and looks like up to 7.5 wide. If that’s case then no glue needed

Found that 5/4 x 8 PVC in my Lowe's. I did glue some other PVC trim and bought a can just for PVC. I thought I read primer was not necessary on trim. Worked fine without it.

I have used regular plumbing PVC glue without issue. Our cornice contractor uses a glue made by Azek.

I've used the same. I do recommend it over plumbing stuff, especially if you want to glue cut edge to cut edge. It worked better with the foamed interior of PVC trim. The thinner pipe solvents can cause the cellular interior to collapse slightly.
