Well I've been meaning to do this for a while but life gets in the way. Over the past three months I've finally gotten my shop up. I've been planning and scheming for the past four years so this is a long time coming.

Planned layout

First a couple of pictures

I wasn't very good about taking pictures at the beginning mostly with my phone which died a couple of weeks ago so these first few stages will be sparse.

Pouring the slab (12/30/2015)

Specs on the building

30' X 60' X 16 at the eves.

Will be used for three purposes. First as a place to park our 27' fifth wheel out of the sun when it isn't in use to hopefully prolong its life. Second as a car maintenance facility (planning on a lift in one of the bays). Thirdly as an office for me. I work from home most of the time and having my office inside the house with kids running around leads to a lower level of productivity than I'd like. Mostly right now I end up working when they are asleep but this leads to me being tired and less pleasant than I'd like a lot of the time. Hopefully a bit of physical separation will help.

Few pictures.

Electrical panel going in. At this point just a few lights and outlets and what I need so the lift can be installed. (1/29/2016)

Doing some driveway repair from the concrete truck damage (we ended up pouring 127 yds). Wife managed to get the bobcat we rented stuck so that was fun.

Well I had my first realization today (2/25/2016) that I made a mistake in planning. I had originally planned on not having a bathroom in the shop as there is one right inside the house in the laundry room. After working with it for a few weeks I changed my mind. There are just too many times when it would be way to inconvenient to get clean enough to go inside when nature calls. I've decided on a full bath so guess what I get to do. That's right I get to jackhammer out part of my brand new beautiful slab.

Revised layout with bathroom added.

Well that brings me current.

This weekends projects are to install these

And to do some weather-sealing around the roll up door. I have plenty of bugs coming in around it (and even a bird once) and when the lights are on inside you can see lots of light outside. If I think of it I'll take a picture of that tonight.

We'll see how that goes. I'm supposed to have a minor back surgery Thursday that may put me out of action on this project for a bit.

I have a thunder throne and sink in my shop. If toilet paper consumption is any indicator it apparently gets a lot of use. Mostly from my wife who runs into "rest" when she is working in the yard. I have been known to make a special trip out when my digestive tract sends out warning signals. Makes for peace and harmony in our love nest.

Well I get to spend the next two months not lifting more than 20lbs so this thing is going to be on hold for a while.
