I've been looking long and hard at different brake line flaring tools (my current bubble flaring tool ***** balls). After a while (and by reading GJ) I thought I had it with the Cal-Van Master inline flaring set (https://cal-vantools.com/products/master-inline-flaring-set/).
Not too expensive and does both SAE and ISO flares (well sort of, the backside of the bubble flare will look like an inverted flare).
I was ready to hit the order button, but decided to read some amazon reviews first. They were pretty bad, all negative reviews remarking on the quality of the metal. Many broke their 3/16 dies after two flares, looks like they've been cheapening out.
However I see that Matco, Blue-Point and Cornwell seem to be rebranding this kit, so it can't be all that bad can't it? Or is the inferior quality a recent thing?
Can anyone comment on the quality of the current sets, or recommend me another one that'll do both bubble and double flares?
I know, I know, Mastercool and Eastwood, but they're too pricey for a DIY'er like myself!
