Looking to buy some bits for a upcoming bathroom install. Ceramic tile mostly.

Would like to buy something that will last for a while, prefer best bang for the buck.

After looking around, there is super cheap Chinese diamond coated hole saw bit sets for ~$15 w/ 10pcs! Which just seems crazy cheap.

And then there is typical big box store Bosch / Dewalt / etc... all Chinese made spade tipped bit as well for similar prices ~$15-30 w/ 3-6 pcs.

Anybody make quality bits for this application still?

Thanks

Super cheap typical hole saw style-

Check out granquartz.com or regents stone products. That is where we buy all of our diamond tooling from. They have stuff from cheap and useless all the way to real expensive.

Figure out what sizes you need, and buy singles.

The chisel type carbide bits and diamond hole saws aren't really comparable.. you're not going to find very much overlap in sizes.

Unless you're hanging a mirror, odds are good you're not going to need the tiny holes that chisel bits make.

I find myself doing all kinds of random jobs and will likely need set.

I HATE not having the right bit in the middle of a job, then wasting time to grab it locally for 2-3x the cost.

Are there any brands out there I should be looking for? Kind of like the Norseman of diamond coated?

I have the bosch set pictured and they are pretty good. My friend broke the 1/2" bit, not sure how, but the others have been fine to me. I've drilled a decent amount with them in my hammer drill.

For smaller holes like installing a shower door frame, use a center punch to break the glaze and a regular masonry bit will drill right through with no problems. No experience with the larger hole saws in ceramic tile.

I just installed several new towel bars for my parents. A Vermont American tile bit in my M12 drill had no problem for a few dozen holes.

Bump...

still looking for anyone who might be in the bathroom, tile, stone industries who knows of good brand to look for?

I did get my install done with a nice Montana branded 3/4" diamond hole saw made in the UK and my standard issue carbide tipped masonry bits.
