This is a follow-up to my previous post concerning T1-11 siding on a pole frame building. One of the responses suggested using TruCeder from Quality Edge as the siding. Looks like a nice product, so was wondering if anyone on the Forum has experience with this product and company? It would be somewhat more expensive than going the the T1-11, but the upside is it wouldn't need to be painted which kind of brings it into a wash.

Thanks in advance for info!

I think I asked about this product right? I didnt get much response.

Yes, yours was the info I found from the search. I'm guessing you went a different direction? I may circle back with the one guy who installed it from your thread.

I did a house in it this summer. Good stuff, pricey, and the company is a PITA to work with. Delivery times ran 6-7 weeks when sales rep quoted 2-3 weeks. I had 18-19 weeks wait time for 3 deliveries.

I havent built a building yet.

BUT I dont think I am going to go with that. I think I am leaning towards sort of trying to match my house which will entail hardi-board or something along those lines.

I want to use about 4 squares of Tru Cedar English Saddle to do a part of the front of my shop (rock veneer on the other part). I think I will love the look, but I've been wavering on it because of the price. I can't find anything with a wood look without the upkeep (sealing it) or problems (woodpeckers, knot holes) so I called for a more recent quote Monday.

They sell it by the 1/2 square carton and one carton from my supplier is $170, so $340/square. He said it would also be $100-150 shipping.

I got a quote from a company called Longboard. It was $14/square ft, so $1400/square! I couldn't believe it. I'm not saying it's not worth it, I'm just saying that's not in my budget.

The way I see it, I can spend $500 on metal to match the rest of the building and have a plain-looking building, or I can spend $2000-2200 and have it look awesome and match the house.

Nice to know about the lead time. I need to get my order placed.

I wouldn't mind using Hardie, but not sure if it works with pole barns. The contractor we are planning to use is quoting about $6,500 more for the TruCeder vs. T1-11. I need to sit down with him and get to brass tacks on what's included. I have a big concern about appearance, so have reservations about the T1 and standard pole barn metal (which is the least expensive option). Rough numbers for a 30x40x12 in Montana:

Standard pole barn $45K
T1-11 $55K
TruCeder $57K (assuming $4K to paint)

Includes grading and site prep, electrical and concrete.
