Quality impact drivers

I have the 1/2" impact driver from Home Depot and it is a great tool that I use more than I thought I would. I was thinking about upgrading but was wondering besides the snap on, matco and proto 3/8" drivers if there were any other decent impact drivers for less money?

I too have the Snap On driver set. Other than breaking one tip, it has performed flawlessly. I've been using it every day for the past month on a project at work. Has help up to the constant hammering it's been getting. I purchaced the set with all the bits and it was pricey but worth it in my opinion. If you just want the driver itself and no bits, it was featured in either last month or this months Snap On sales flier for around $50.00 or so.

I've never used one of these before, are they a good thing to have in the tool box. I am thinking they are used to loosen sturbon phillips head or flat head screws. Do they actually work well, because i've stripped quite a few before.

They are one of those essential tools especially for stuck and partially stripped screws. Just one whack and voila, no air or electricity required.

Stricht, I'd buy a Snap On. I had a proto, replaced it w/ a snap on. The difference was amazing. the SO is 1000 times better.

I have the Snap-on also. When they are partially stripped or boogered up they can still break them loose. Don't use it all the time but very handy whem required.

I bought probably the same 1/2" home depot version years ago, and have yet to have a problem with it. I think i have broken a bit on it at one time, but never had an issue w/ the tool itself.

Koken do a few models of these, they are meant to be excellent (I have one, but not had the misfortune of having had to use it yet! ). You can take the end off of it, and use 1/2" drive sockets.

I use ball-pein's. At least a 16 ounze so there's some oomph behind it when you hit thtat sucker.

I have the newer Mac 'el-cheapo' version that all the other dealer's rebrand. It's a taiwanese model, but so far, it works well for all I need it for and it was cheap. I believe you can catch it on sale in the Mac flyer for $30 but normally, it's $40. Only one broken bit so far. It did take a little while to get it warrantied though.

I bought a MAc ID67 at a pawn shop for $1 last week. (no bits)
Goes for $60.49 on the Mac website. (just the driver)
They're handy.
