Quality made screwdriver set in a case

Hello everyone i looking for a high quality screwdriver set that would come in a case that i could carry in a backpack. I'm currently an electrical engineering student and a need some tools to adjust pots and attach wires to terminal strips. Stuff like that. I only need a few so any help or advise from some guys with more experience would be great.

The small screwdriver and bits can be unsnapped from the big kit if you just need to work with pots, terminals, phoenix connectors, etc.

I carry the small screwdriver set and a leatherman in my laptop bag and very rarely have to pull my main tool kit out of the car.

Pretty much any ratcheting screwdriver and a good set of bits would fit the bill. If youre worried about conductivity, Snap on does have a composite insulated shank that fits in their newer style ratcheting screwdrivers. Wera also has a few options.

I'm with buffalobill if a ratcheting driver will be useful to you (it will be for terminal strips). As long as you're not reaching deep into holes to get to fasteners, the Snap-On ratcheting driver is great.

You'll likely want a micro driver set too, since turning surface-mount pots is a delicate task. I'd recommend Wiha here, say 26199 from here if you're on a tight budget or 27399 on the same page if you can afford it.

I carry some tools to and from work in a backpack every day since I prefer my own tools over what work provides. One thing I've found handy in my backpack is the Mead zipper pouches intended to be put in 3-ring binders. They don't appear to make the ones I have anymore, but Mead 50518 and 50642 could be handy for keeping track of little stuff. You could also look into a tool backpack, but when I bought my backpack, I couldn't find a tool one that would also hold my 17" MacBook Pro.

Klein sells an extended reach 10-in-1 screwdriver that will fit just about anywhere a ratcheting driver won't. I'd get the aforementioned ratcheting driver, a 10-in-1 and a set of microdrivers, and then one of the Klein zippered canvas bags to carry them all in.

felo has a set of insulated drivers. a variety of insulated shanks (phillips, flat, torx) that can be used as small precision scredrivers and a handle that converts them to full size drivers. all packaged in a small metal case appox. 4 x 6 x 1.

I'm a big fan of the Wiha Drive-Loc VI (known in some places as System 6 Telescopic). Lets you carry one handle with interchangeable double-ended blades that can be set at various lengths. They are thinner than most ratcheting drivers, so they can fit into tighter spaces. (Though still not as fine as a fixed-blade driver, of course.) Probably not the best for freeing frozen-up phillips screws, but I've never had any issues with this line of tools with the way I use them.

For the little stuff, you might want to take a gander at Wiha System 4 -- same concept but for the smaller sizes. I don't have any experience with those particular tools, though.

Do like many, many EE's and ET's have done before you, and go with any of the excellent interchangeable blade drivers on the market. Techs and engineers have carried interchangeable blade sets in their technical attache tool pallets for a very long time.

The drive-loc system recommended above is superb, as is the Wera.

Wiha also has released a new slimline insulated line, that comes in interchangeable. It's not cheap, but it's damn nice.
