Gentlemen,

I would like to install Plugmold under the valance of my upper cabinets. The valance under the upper cabinets is 1-1/2" deep vertically (think of it as a lip created by the lower face frame rail.

I want the Plugmold to be 1-1/2" wide or less so it is hidden under the valance.

I basically need four lengths approximately 8", 12", 24", 24". These would be hardwired and the 12-2 w/ground is stubbed in all four locations.

My retired electrician buddy thinks anything under the 2400 Series (which happens to be almost 2") wide is junk. The narrower products are cheap and hard to wire.

Is he correct? Or just opinionated and behind the times?

Any opinions on brands of Plugmold/Wiremold products that are 1-1/2" or less and of good quality? Pre-made lengths would be preferred - would prefer to just mount, wire and be done without dealing with the components.

Thanks for reading,

GD

I disagree with your buddy. Plug mold has always been a quality product despite the fact it ***** to work with. You'll probably be better off buying a length that will handle your total then cut to size. If you go that route make sure you get the model with receptacles every 6". And get enough end caps and termination ends to do all the individual pieces. I'd also suggest you use the Orange/blue rubber twist on terminals as they fit much easier in the termination caps.

I have always bought plug mold in 10ft lengths and cut it to size. I dont even know if it comes pre cut honestly. The smaller the plug mold the more tedious it is to wire, depending on what youre using it for. I have used both the cheap plastic wiremold from big box stores and the real wiremold. I have not really had any problems with either, however if its going to be out in the open i like the real stuff over the plastic stuff any day.

That's a good point I forgot to mention get the metal stuff and only cuss once and it'll last forever.

Plugmold® & Wiremold® are brands or should say that Plugmold is a brand from the Wiremold company/ Legrand, that being said Plugmold is a PITA to install.
