Quality outdoor rated ceiling fan?

Sorry, not going in the garage, but my screened porch. What's the best outdoor rated ceiling fans? I was going to get a Hunter 52" outdoor original which are cast iron and $530 for brown. But there's a lot of marketing hype on the BigAssFan's 60" Haiku fan which is $900! But I can't find any real customer feedback, just blogs spouting marketing material. Any other recommendations for a nice quality fan?

I have a contemporary Quorum fan/light under our covered porch that looks great and works well. I believe it's a 52" and cost about $250.

I have always installed Casablanca Fans in all my houses and have one now outside on my patio. I have never had a problem with any of these fans. There a little more money than the ones at Lowes or Home Depot but like I said I haven't had a problem with any of them.

I have seen the Big *** Fan industrial models running constantly for a decade without any problems. They are quality products. That said, I have never seen a residential model but I would be surprised if it were any less well built. They are pricey for a motor and some fan blades.

I have an old 1 hp Craftsman motor from a table saw. I keep thinking of making it into a cool retro belt driven fan.

I have never see an "oudoor rated" fan.

I have seen the typical, residential, fans on open air verandas through out the Caribbean.

I have had a garage sale fan running 24/365 in my garage for 15 years.
Not even a squeal.

It is a pretty low stress application.

I just looked at the Lowes and the Home Depot websites, and on both sites when you call up ceiling fans you can sort them by ones that are rated for outdoor use on porches.

Hunter in a word, have one on a screen porch 52 in, been there for 15 years, smooth & quiet at all speeds. You will not go wrong with the Hunter, NEVER EVER had one fail. There is a good reason why they are found in bars, restraints and other public places, buy it once and forget.

I've purchased and installed 10) or so Hunter Originals in my homes for over 25 years. They're well built, quiet, balanced, long lasting, style selections, and they move fpm's.

Never a problem with any of them.

2 years and rolling strong with Harbor Breeze from Lowes on a porch without screening. Big thing is to make sure they are made for outdoor, ie not fiber wood product blades.

Hunter all the way.

Put one in our last house. Every existing fan in our new house will be replaced with a Hunter when the time comes. We've already done one.

They are outstanding products.

Hunter originals are certainly great, but any other Hunter is simply another Thailand made fan, possibly a better design, possibly not. What you want is a damp location fan. I looked at a local house that was foreclosed on. It had a full width covered front porch with fans. The fans were apparently indoor fans, because the blades had all "wilted" and were hanging down. I have some Hampton Bay Verde Green finish damp location fans on my screened in back porch and they work fine and look great (just dirty and need cleaning) after 15 years or more.
