quality outdoor security light?

i need to pick up a light and the reviews im looking at for HD and lowes brands are downright horrbile.

std dusk to dawn aluminum fixture. they offer fluorescent, HPS and metal halide. id prefer the yellow color of light for my eyes, but im scared to buy any of them with the reviews they are getting.

I am in the same boat. I want to replace one at my place that goes off randomly, but afraid of what I will end up with. I had one replaced on a pole at work about 8 months ago that seems to be doing fine. It came from the electric supply across the street from work, but it is also an import. I think I will see what model and brand it was this week, and get a price.

I see RAB fixtures often used for commercial projects - they aren't necessarily the best quality available but they're pretty good, and they usually are reasonably priced. They make some pretty decent LED exterior lights as well.

They also sell high pressure sodium and metal halide fixtures, you just have to page around the site: http://www.rabweb.com/productLines.php?majorGroup=HIDWALL However, their LED fixtures have pretty nice color; they have them in various color temperatures down to 3000K, which is pretty close to a regular old incandescent bulb.
