If you love ratcheting screwdrivers, you've got to try the pistol handled Wera. Top notch tool in every way. Very comfortable, and you can generate significant torque and downward force with it. I still want to get Snap On and Wera straight ratcheting screwdrivers. How do those two compare?
I agree. I have one & reach for it when ever I need a little extra torque. At first, the gearless action seemed a little strange though.

I really like the look of the Wera and the PB swiss. I'll be looking for them soon. I have two of the SO soft grips, and 1 hard handle, and have never had the caps come off at all. Ill have to experiment to see how they would come off while in use.

Been trying to find a 24" snap on... the last one i saw on ebay went for over 120 bux which is crazy.

the green one? yeah...made a bid on it but it went a little silly at the end. i was hoping to get it at a decent price to help fill out the green set i'm trying to build for the cart I'm getting this winter. the 24's at a reasonable price are like hen's teeth. I see them go regularly on Ebay for $150+...crazy. I found mine by pure chance. I was buying a few things from a guy I met through Ebay and mentioned casually that I was looking for some orange hard handled stuff and just by chance he had won one that day at a really good price. Charged me a few bucks profit and it's on the way to me now! all I'm missing now for that set is the stubby T-handle. Pretty cheap off the truck so I'll likely get it from there.

Anybody like the pistol-grip Snappy one? Had one but it grew legs, and I never got that attached do didn't replace it.

i LOVE my pistol grip SO's . I have 2 and they're usually the first ones I reach for. I like the fact that you can spin them with your fingertip on the plastic cap in front of the selector. Another tool they shouldn't have stopped making. Still easy to get for a reasonable price on Ebay though. The multi position soft grip just isn't as nice IMO.

Just got my new ratchet screwdriver delivered. :)

It's the new model from Britool (BRSDF1) and I really like it.
It looks similar to other Facom/Britool ratchet screwdrivers but with a "twist".

The handle converts to a piston grip by pressing a inset thumb button on the handle and twisting the two part handle (diagonal split). Similar to the multi-position SO but with 2 positions and the button is a chunkier/resessed.

Here is a pic in "piston" mode...

The 6-bit holder ejects when you press the two oval buttons (on opposite sides). The shank is a removable one with the standard 1/4" male end (like SO) , a mag bit holder at the other end and a good finger grip.

Has a grippy soft handle and a nice weighty feel.

Loving it already :bounce:

Oh and I got it for a special Dec introductory price of £14.50 + sales tax (VAT). Bought it from a Ebay seller, to my door for £16.99. List is £24 + VAT

hmm, was that aimed at me .... :headscrat

The reason for the post is there is limited info on this new model. All the web photos are low res and the same one. I took a punt on it as at the promo price it seemed very fair but without seeing a decent pic.

Much as I'd love a SO version, I can't justify it.

Having had a play with it, the only negative I can see is there is a little play (about 1mm) along the handle split joint but it isn't an issue in use.

First use will be assembling my daughter's xmas pressies.

Depending on what part of the world you live in that ratcheting screwdriver can be found wearing a different colour scheme and name: Facom, Bost, Pastorino, Bahco, KTC, SEK (Suekage), SK, Great Neck, and probably some more. I think most, if not all, have the name "Reverse Gear" on the directional wheel. :) Some brands may not carry the full line of stubby/regular/two-position types though.

They apparently all come from the same factory: Hi-Five

The Bahco ratcheting screwdrivers (aka Blue Point Snap-On and Britool) are now available in Bahco orange and gray livery via Amazon (search under the Bahco and Snap-on names, because they're listed as different items). The stubby ratcheting screwdriver is very well made and has more heft than you would imagine. Feels and works good.

I have the Wera and Felo ratcheting drivers and really like them. The Bahco stubby is a nice addition.

There's also the SpecTools line, now available on Amazon. These are roller-bearing stepless drivers, with bit storage in the handle. I have an older gear-driven multiplying version, but I find you have to put too much pressure on the driver to have the multiplying feature work (in either direction). However, the non-multiplying stepless pro version is nice:

Watch out here comes Mr.T and the "Thread Digger"!!!!

:lol_hitti

its all relative, let it roll.

I am in the market for another ratcheting screwdriver as well. I had a SO hard handle from back in 93 until someone broke in the shop I worked at and stole all our tools.

$30.00 at Case IH! One of the members here suggested it, it is made by snap on, so are the bits!

Yep, seen them, and I believe they're basically the Williams drivers. Did the package say where it was made??? I don't recall looking that closely when I saw them last, and was curious if they're made in the same plant as the Williams ones, or made using cloned tooling elsewhere...

I keep a Snap On Green Ratcheting Screwdriver at home. I've gotten it free sometime ago and it was just sitting in my Toolbox not being used so I brought it home and it's been staying at home for awhile now. Used it alot in hand building wood drawers, fish tank stands and light canopy.

Work great given it's free. The rear opens up with a cap and there's difference size screwdriver bits in it.

I wouldn't be able to tell you the price of it since I got it free from purchasing other Snap On tools.
