Has anyone every found a small roll pin punch that does not break? I know the thin ones can only take so much abuse, but most times at work when I encounter a roll pin, it usually destroys the punch and ends up having to be drilled out carefully. I would probably be looking for a good set of the smaller sizes since my cheap harbor freight punches for the large roll pins seem to be doing well. Point me in the right direction

I have a craftsman usa set, think theyre made by wilde or mayhew.

there pretty sturdy for the size, ive bent one and successfully managed to straighten it and its held up (I know cheaper ones would have snapped once you tried to bend it back and been weaker).

Another major vote for Mayhew. I have one of their large sets and everything has worked flawlessly.

I needed a 7/32" roll pin punch, so I ended up buying the Craftsman 5 piece set made by Western Forge. I gave all the roll pins a few drops of Kroil, let them sit over night, and punched them out the following day with no problems.

Have you tried breaking it free with another punch - a starter punch?
I have several Kreauters and older stuff that have not let me down, just added a Wilde set to my work box - we'll see how those do in the future.

I have Starrett, Proto, and Snap-on punches. Most of them are 15-20 years old, have seen a lot of use and performed very well.

I have had good results with Mayhew. On my second set after 30 years. For regular pin punches, nothing beats a Starrett, in my opinion.

Now, if Starrett made actual ROLL PIN PUNCHES, I'd be all over it. Not saying that they don't, I just haven't been able to locate any. Anybody got a link?

Another vote for Mayhew roll pin punches, and Starrett for regular pin punches.
A must for gun tinkering.

I bought HF, figured when they break I would replace them with something better, still waiting to break one, but have bent a couple. Some take a real smack to get the roll pins out, so not being easy on them.

Mayhew or grace. Albeit I sold the graces and now solely use the Mayhew but that's my preference. I got mine from Mcmastercarr for a decent price.
