Quarter sheet paper with holes

Hi fellow members. I have searched the previous posts and threads and could not find any info. So now I am asking you if you have any experience, with the purchase of the paper with the holes or what do you use to make the holes. Besides punching them one at a time with a paper punch, does anyone have any ideas on how to speed up the process. I am thinking of punching or drilling each single hole through many sheets or all the holes in a single or double sheet. I know they have the plastic template but I believe it tears the paper and probably does not allow the dust to be vacuumed well. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a Festool square shaped sander that has the holes in the base for dust removal...

Check Festool site or suppliers...the sheets I have are probably 1/4 size...might work for you...not sure about pattern of holes for your set up.

Have an old makita Palm sander that came with a sheet metal plate the size of the pad. On it were raised conical points where the holes are. Put on paper. Use sheet metal plate to punch holes. It didn't remove the later it just punches a hole. It kinda tears am opening where the hole goes. If that makes any sense.

I'd use a leather hole punch; the kind you strike with a hammer. I'd get a white polyethylene cutting board to use as the backing surface because it won't dull the punch.

Don't ask.
My sander came with a spiked plate to make the holes. It had sides that lined it up on the sander and a quick push to make the holes.

i'll be darned, learn something new everyday...My dewalt ROS came with one of those, I just assumed it was a stand or something....

personally I just buy pre punched sanding discs for the ROS, but my Makita and craftsman 1/4 sheet sanders don't have dust holes, so I never really realized how that could be a problem...but I see the dilemma.

clamping and drilling would certainly be the fastest, but I imagine it would destroy the drill bit in short order, no?

sounds like a good opportunity to fabricate something in the shop. bunch of cheap hollow leather punches from HF attached to a steel plate you can use in the shop press maybe...

Hi gungatim. Thank you for your time. In all honesty, I posted this question to see if anybody had already made that steel plate with the hole punches you are talking about.

Now there is an idea. I didn't think they made them in full sheets. That would save a lot of time. Thank You.

You're welcome. If you have any difficulties finding it let me know I know the Mirka rep out West and also know a good friend of the Quebec rep so I can find out where it is available in Quebec.
