Hi everyone,

Great forum. I don't have a garage but Im in the process of painting my basement and will soon order Epoxy-coat through Lowes. I was happy to learn that Lowes started carrying it and i can get it cheaper with a 10% coupon. I appreciate your help with a few questions. The house is from the 50's and the concrete is in pretty good shape after removing tile andblack mastic.

1. Epoxy-coat.com says that light gray requires two coats. What's the reason and can i get away with just one coat? Can't get gray from the Lowes website.

2. The concrete has several hairline cracks. Can i paint directly over them? Or will the epoxy seep into them leaving an impression when it dries?

3. There's some very shallow pitting in a section of the floor. Will the paint self level into the holes or do i need to patch?

Thanks again. IM sure ill have more questions later

I can't help with the color question but in my experience any cracks or divits in the concrete will still be there when you're done. Fill them with an appropiate epoxy filler before you do the color. I used a flexible crack filler from Legacy Industrial. If you miss filling a crack it will become a glaring beacon that will hit you in the face every time you go into the garage. :scared:
