Queen City Grinder Pick Up Today!

We went to see if this Queen City grinder was still where we last saw it a few years ago. Data tag says 4F, 2 hp, 3 phase.

It rained/snowed a bit today but I did cover the grinder in my truck bed. Off to the shop Saturday and I'll look it over before throwing some power to it.

I saw that you posted that in the grinder thread but didn’t realized it’s yours now. I wonder if the lights will dim when that bad boy fires up. That’s massive!

Checking the shop today and looking over the grinder. I see the left side stone guard is damaged.

Does anyone have a good left side stone guard? I don't have any of the broken pieces, could this be repaired?

Pull the guard off and tape up one side of that hole, flip it over and fill the hole with JB Weld.

Do a little at a time to slowly close the hole, let it cure completely in between application.

My Queen City came with fabricated wheel guards. The originals were long gone.

One option: Fab a piece of mild steel sized to fill the hole, like a puzzle piece. Then either braze it in, or get some "Muggy" cast-iron welding rod, and stick-weld it in. I've used Muggy to repair half the machines in my shop, and it works like a champ.

-With rocks that big, you don't want to take half measures. You want armor plate there, not plastic.

I had to recast one side of mine as it was missing. Wasn't that expensive did it in aluminum
