Hello,
I first want to introduce myself. My name is Matt. I am a 23year old New York State license insurance broker. I work for my uncle who is a Nationwide Agent.
I am also a car fanatic. I own 3 cars. I have 2 daily drivers, 1999 ford taurs and 1997 vw jetta. My last car is my baby. It is a 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT. I did a custom turbo kit and 4spd auto to a 5spd manual. Well after 1 year of beating the hell out of the motor she gave out on me. She is now in my garage getting an extreme over haul. 2004 STI swap, engine, ******, ecu, wiring harness, and interior are going to be installed in the car. Also having the whole car repainted.

Well I spend a lot of my time in my garage. Living in Queens, NY there isn’t a lot of room. We have to make everything work. My garage is 20x19x9. I have a decent size tool box set, and 60 gal compressor. I’m going to take pictures and post of them of the garage. I want people’s advice.

My plans for my garage.
1) Insulate the whole garage
2) Replace the sheetrock
3) Put new outlets all around the garage
4) Install 2 0r 3 heavy duty metal work benches
5) Install all new lights in the garage.

I will post pictures of the garage, my cars and things I plan to purchase for the garage. Please give me all your ideas and advice.

Thanking you all in advance
-Matt

You can do a lot in a small garage. All it takes is organization and a little imagination.

Quality casters are a bit pricey. But, with a small garage, they can be your best friend.

You might consider some type of wall mounted workbench. That would give you a little more room.

Well small update.
I have went and made a purchase for the garage that dosnt do anything really but make it so much cooler. i purchased a 32inch lcd VIZIO tv for the garage. I have re wired my computer and hooked it up to the tv. It is now my large computer screen and dvd player.
I actually purchased cd manuals for all my friends cars and my own to work on. Will post more pics of it all up and running. The re sheetrocking the garage is on hold. I'm actually looking to have my car media blasted soon so I'm trying to save some cash.

Please enjoy

-Matt

Re: Queens NY garage 20x19x8 UPDATE

This past weekend started some of the demo in this weekend. After all the sheet rock was removed noticed one wall which I share with neighbor was bowing. Attached below is the garage stripped, the car outside covered for the bad weather, the bowing wall . Hopefully later this week the electrician will be installing lights and outlets.

Once the electrician is done we will install insulation and plywood the walls. Please enjoy the pictures. Any advice would be great

nice car. i used to have a silver 97 legacy gt with morettes, too and an 05 legacy gt wagon.

you can't have too many outlets or too much lighting. i'd recommend putting outlets higher off the ground so you don't have to bend over to plug and unplug things, too.
