I might be in the market to buy this and I'm waiting for the seller to answer me some questions, and thought I'd ask here to see if you guys know.

Are these real Snap-On chests? Idea of age or model #? Friction slides or Ball bearing? What would you guys pay for them?

Dimensions are 40" WideX 19 3/4" Deep. I'm not buying the Craftsman box so just curious what a fair price to pay for the 2 Snap On boxes would be.

Yes that in deed looks like a real snapon tool box except for the top box which is craftman. At most I'd pay $1k. But I'm sure someone else on here will ? My judgment.

Those look like KRA boxes. I have the same roller, but can't recall the model number. They are still available through SO so you can check out their website.

I paid $1000 for the roller and a full top box, but I think I got a good deal on it. I would say max worth of these is a grand, but a good price would be $750.

Thanks for the input. Would you happen to be able to tell ages and if they would have come with ball bearing slides? I don't want to reveal the price until the deal is done. The seller said he purchased them in 1997.

Are there different levels of quality in the KRA line of boxes? To me that box in the OP's photo seems a bit different from the build construction quality of something like this KRA pictured.

Judging by the handle, drawer configuration, and the two key cylinders, it's even money if the roll cab is ball bearing or not. If it's friction slide, it will probably be a KRA 3800, and if ball bearing a KRA4800. I'm betting friction slide........ For me, in good condition, I'd pay no more than $500 for the roll cab if friction, and maybe up to $700 if BB, but it would have to be nice. No more than $300 or $500 for the drawer section, maybe more. It kind of depends on the drawer section. Those are a little harder to come by in the used market.

Nothing wrong there, I made money working out of one of those for years before I bought my KRL.

The 3000 series KRA's were upgradable to ball bearing, but those parts may have been discontinued by now.

balane, The box you posted a pic of is a KRA2418, and is at least a decade newer, probably more. That box is 24" deep and 39" tall, where the OP's box is 19"ish deep. Both employ the same, basic design, but the 2418 will be ball bearing for sure, lock-n-roll, round keyed, and has the same drawers as a KRL 722. The only difference between the KRA2418 drawers vs. the KRL722 drawers are the BB slide capacity.

Got them home today. They are KRA3800 Canada series and friction slide drawers. Got them home for under $1000.00

Thanks for all the replies and help.

I'm not going to say because they might end u here for sale one day. Knowing what I paid might affect what other people will pay.

I hear you guys talking about cleaning and lubing the slides. What do you use.. White Lithium Grease?

Nice,I understand KRA series is just the snap on red color. It's kind of hard to get the drawers out. Use two hack saw blades one one each side to jimmy the slides past the little drawer stop. I only removed my slow drawers to clean them up and oil them better. I just use 3in one oil.

I've seen white lithium grease used, but it attracts dirt, dries out, then gets gummy, etc

I've cleaned my slides w/ rags and WD-40; then, once cleaned, I've used canning wax (parafin) on the slides - I think I actually read somewhere (can't remember where) that Snap On actually recommended using canning wax / parafin on the slides

I've also used liquid car wax on them - when the wax dries, guess what, it's WAX
