I have an ATLAS PV10PX and am happy with it so far. I was wondering the other day what you would do if you happened to have a vehicle up on the lift and set on the upper safety stops and a seal blew out and you loose hydraulic pressure? How would you get the vehicle down. If I were waiting on parts and when I got the parts, it seems you wouldn't want to leave the vehicle up in the air?

You are screwed. The good news is that most of the hydraulic plumbing is stationary so very little problem. I worked in various shops and dealer service departments for 30+ years and never saw this happen.

I am not familiar with the Atlas, but most 2 post have dual cylinders and all the equalization cables means that one cylinder will lift the weight if needed to get a car down.

I had a vehicle on a lift (less than 6 months old) and apparently the pump to motor coupling gave out. Luckily I didn't have it resting on the blocks and was able to lower it. Luckily the lift company replaced the pump under warranty, otherwise it would have been 600 bucks minimum. I've also worked on a lift that the switch would stick sometimes and keep raising the vehicle but another hit on the switch always stopped it. It was a lift that the service manager had installed and when he flipped on the power the first time the safety wire that limited height blew up from having the electrical wires shorted out!
