Question about books read as a child

Ok, I am 43yrs old.

I remember reading these stories about these children when I was young. They would solve problems and build things. It was a series of books. One of the kids had won some call in show that provided them with a chauffeur.... their transportation.

Do not remember all the things they got into, but do recall that they built a sub out of some drum and the windscreen from an old bomber.

Anyone have any clues on what I am babbling about?

yeah, I had saw that when doing a search, but these characters existed in modern ('80s) time.

Seems to me that I remember that they were in California, or some place similar.

Good stuff! I'm 46 and still remember The Three Investigators. I preferred them to the Hardy Boys. Had no idea there were 43 books. My library only had a dozen or so.

I remember reading an Encyclopedia Brown story about a mini sub. I don't remember the chauffeured transportation, though.

The Mad Scientist's Club series was one of my favorites growing up. Along with Encyclopedia Brown, Choose your own Adventure, and a few others.

I liked the three investigators as well. If it's as I recall, they had a hidout in the junkyard of the one kid's uncle or something. The one guy was quite brilliant and he had a couple of his friends that would help him on the adventures.....

hmmm, those were good books. I might have to see if the library has them again.....

I read the hell out of those and the Hardy Boys. I think I know what 99SVT is referring to, but I can't recall what the books were called. Or I'm confused I remember reading books about a bunch of science stuff, like a kid using rockets to do cloud seeding and such. A bunch of Estes mail order material left my back yard, never to return. G.I. Joe and an Estes D model engine....

So often people quote things that sound likely, but are in fact false.

The above is true....I confirmed it via a couple of web searches.....they all say the same thing.

You are definitely remembering "The Adventures of the Mad Scientists Club"

I had and still have the book. Just introduced it to my 8 year old, he can't put it down!
