So I have a fridge in my uninsulated barn , I have beer and water in it .
My electric bill is usually 24.00 a month and 22.00 of that is minimum charge .
Im sure it’s gonna run a lot because it’s 100 Degs at times inside
Anyone else have a set up like that

I have a Dorm Room Refrigerator in my workshop, the electric bill for that house is only the minimum because of all the Solar Panels. My son drives an Electric Car, all at the minimum billing. He is enjoying the benefits of all the money he spent on the Solar system.

My brother bought a fridge from a typical box store to put in his garage just for extra stuff. It was winter, and the fridge wouldn't cool. Went back to the store, and was told it wasn't intended for extreme temperatures. He returned it for a model that was quite a bit more expensive, but handled the temps fine.

I have a small refrigerator and watch the temperature in the machine. Control is now about 3/4 up. In the winter I can turn it way down. I’ve thought about a more insulated
unit for out there. I have an old pop machine I’m working on. Wondering how it might handle the heat and cold. Cost to run.. Probably more than it’s worth. Going from 0 deg to 100deg is terrible.

Too late now, but just put a light bulb under/near where the thermostat is located. Or purchase one of the aftermarket warmer kits available. Keeps it cycling, even with below freezing temps. Not sure what you're asking @cvcman? Have run an old Frigidaire for 20 years in an un-insulated attached garage here. 100* in the summer, and 0* in the winter. I'm sure it's not that efficient. If it died tomorrow, I'd replace it with the oldest Craigslist unit I could find before I'd stick a new one out there.

I have a setup like that.

Things will freeze in the winter. I have toyed with putting a controlled heater in there. I bought a mechanical on/off thermostat made by white rodgers, but it's very inaccurate. I want it to turn on around 35 or 40 F. Honeywell makes a similar item as does Dayton, and others.

I don't care what happens to the freezer, but not freezing is also an issue with the old simple refrigerator control systems. We don't have anything in that freezer.

I remember when Wallmart got built in 95, they set the Sams Choices soda machines outside.
The winter they all got ruined from up from the cans freezing and popping.

They replaced them a few YEARS till getting models that have heaters.

The Wallmart in town here has then inside the arctic entrance by the carts.
