Ive been looking at Hazet impact sockets and it seams that German tool companies in general don't make deep impact sockets, 12 point impact sockets in 3/8 dr and 1/2 dr Why is that? If they do i must of missed them on my Hazet and Gedore catalog.

German cars such as VW mark IV models, Audi and BMW; use axle nuts with 12 points..... these are available through many brands.... what is your application for the 12 point deep well sockets? Most of the German brand sockets for axles are shallow; maybe they don't need to be deep? When I did a Jetta front wheel bearings; I don't think the axle stuck out that much, so maybe deep isn't needed. We bought the Lisle version and it is deep.... go figure! :(

I've noticed that German tool companies; seem to make tools for specific applications and less variety then USA based companies.... I maybe wrong but this is how it seems to me. Maybe because they are geared towards specific european applications; they need less tools?

None at the moment The ones i need are 36, 21, and 15. Shallow will work fine for what i need, I was just wandering the reason behind it. But for 6 point deep I use them all the time.

BTW I'm looking to buy Hazet.

Hazet only offers shallow 1/2" 6-point impact sockets from 8 to 32mm , deep 6-pt. sockets from 13 to 27mm as well as shallow 12 pt. sockets from 12 to 36mm. 12 point Axle nut sockets in 30/32/34/36 are available only in shallow but should work.

Monte, do you have a explanation for this? What do you think about my theories? Do you think the German tools companies are Euro centric and that is why they have less variety of tools, compared to say Snap-On?

Yes i think, since most of the sales will be in the EU i think so you only need metric tools and tools for a specific job and not every size and sets of everything because the customer probably only buys what he needs. There is also nobody here who makes medium sized sockets only shallow + deep. Shallow 12 pt. axle nut sockets fits, if you don´t need deep ones why manufacture them, probably don´t pay off to make and store them if you only could sell a couple of them each year since there is no need for them because you can use 6pt sockets. Hazet once offered more tools like a socket set like the Gearwrench "Vortex" set and lockable extensions etc. but it seems they sold not enough of them. In the US the consumption is generally higher so you can sell more tools and the market is "easier" i think because there are only 3 big hand tool companies without much competition from the outside and one main market (US) while over here there are 27 countries in the EU with 23 languages and many countries with tool companies and more competition.
