Hello there,
I have a quick question about an air compressor (IR 2340) I'm looking at. My fiancee's uncle is an electrical contractor and one of his employees was doing the wiring for a new building in town. Somehow the compressor was started after the wiring job was done and the compressor filled the tank, however, it was only half full of oil. My fiancee's uncle purchased it back and installed a new one.
Long story short, it's now sitting in my fiancee's uncle's shop, I could buy it for $400. It was filled with oil after the original incident and does works fine (it's not seized up) now. Is there anything I should look for?
I'm also trying to determine what's the "worst case" scenario. The compressor needs replacement or a rebuild from a bearing or ring failure? What is the typical expense in that?
Thank you,
Greg
