question about knipex

does anyone know if all of knipex products availible with plain red handles i dislike the comfort grip two tone deal i noticed a few in just red but alot are comfort grip

I prefer the regular grips by far there similar to regular channellock grips but red. I guess it depends what your doing but if your around grease I think comfort grips are to hard to keep somewhat clean and get beat up easily. Knipex's comfort grips look like the code blue channellock stuff they just look like girly man tools to me lol Im biased though i cant stand the greasy sticky feeling they have.

I will be buying a shedload of these in the near future (before Australia lowers their customs GST threshold) - I figure that using the straight red grips for any delicate work is fine, and anything I'm using a lot should have the comfort grips.

Of course, that will have to wait until I'm working, and sorting out life 3.0 in Oz lol

I'd say the other way around. Comfort grips aren't *that* much more comfortable, and get foul dirty very easily, and don't clean up as easily. I'd go w the red handles.

I prefer the red handles then the comfort grip myself. I loved knipex, I have a couple among what I use day to day. I need to pull the trigger on some plier wrenches I've always wanted (one of those tools where you know if you had them they would have made what you where doing a little easier).

Like most people say about cars from this region, they really know how to over engineer something, not saying that In a bad way at all.

I don't care for them much. I don't find them all that more comfortable (and the few times that I do, it's because I should have been using larger pliers). They are more bulky, and on smaller pliers like a needlenose I feel like they get in the way when I'm trying to twist/rotate. I might still consider them for high leverage cutters, but only if I was going to be doing repetitive work requiring that I crank down on the handles.

I don't really care if my tools look dirty (I mean, sure I clean them and prefer them looking clean, but it doesn't bother me if it's dirty), and I VASTLY prefer the comfort grips. I'm generally anti-bulkiness, but the comfort-grip is only where your hand goes anyway, so I don't find it causes me any loss in utility. Maybe it's just because I have large hands though (large enough that most XL sizes gloves are too small for me).

FWIW, if you acquire enough of the comfort grips, don't buy a ply works rack. They only have about 10 wide spaces which is what you need to accommodate the larger handles.

Regular grips for me.

The comfort grips are bulky and can get in the way if doing work in a confined area.

Unless doing repetitive work on a production floor or having some type of muscular disorder where your hand strength is compromised, I do not see the point of comfort grips at all.

Perhaps greasy or harsh work environments may warrant them but not to the degree Knipex markets them. My local hardware store stocks almost all Knipex in comfort grips. Thus I need to special order what I buy. Total hassle for a tool that should come standard as std. grip. Hmmmm....
