Question about lights

Finally I have a question I cannot find an answer to.

I have the opportunity to get 12 T5HO light fixtures from work for free. They are 480v and have 6 bulbs per fixture. I only have 240V single phase at home but I am building a small rotary phase converter to power a mill I may also be getting from work. I also have a transformer to bump up the 240v 3 phase output to 480V

My question is, can I power these lights with the 480V output from the phase converter? I realize it will take a few seconds to spool up the rpc and then start the lights, that doesn't bother me. I would rather have the free lighting if it's possible. I am pretty sure it will work but I'd like a second opinion.

Are they 3ph 480? Or single ph?

If 3 ph....yes you could run them off the RPC

If they are single ph....I would just use a step up transformer.

I would also look at the ballasts in them....maybe they are multiple voltage?

Open them up and have a look.

Worse case....you replace the ballasts with lower voltage single ph ballasts

In any case...grab them....especially if they have bulbs in them

Yes 3ph, all have bulbs and all have the add on motion sensor. They are not multiple voltage. Looks like I'm going to grab them. Thanks.
