Question about metal panels as a roof

I have a neighbor that is selling a bunch of these 'siding' panels.
I'm adding onto my shop and was thinking about using these for the walls.
My question is : why couldn't I use these for the roof?
Start at the peak, and have them going left to right. Overlap them by one rib ( bottom under top), use the mastic strips where the panels overlap.
Then , go back and put a cap on the top where both sides meet.
Have any of you ever done this?
I do a lot of sheetmetal work, so blocking the ends to stop raining from coming in wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks

I'm gonna go over and look when it dries up.
It doesn't seem like framing and supporting it wouldn't be too bad.

Have 26 guage of barn siding im happy with it. Had a shingle roof that didn't get removed. 30 lb tar paper then 1x4 s frame work screwed to roof trusses then the siding to the frame work. Being a modified A frame took a minimum 1/2 to 1 ton ac load off the house. Rain its quiet. Also did the garage just the tar paper over the shingles.IMG_20220428_184607.jpg
