does anyone know how to remove the round piece on the ram?

I did a quick google image search and haven't seen another one with this piece attached.

Hopefully this isn't one of those situations that requires an arbor press to press it off.

:lol_hitti Yea hopefully someone didn't press it on.

Check and see if it is threaded on or if there is a through bolt. My Greenerd is tapped on the end of the ram to install accessories. Someone may have made that little contraption and threaded it into a hole on the end of the arbor. (Hopefully)

Nope; nothing to be done with that; and it's probably a damn dangerous thing to have around. Luckily, I run a dangerous tools depot with free drop off, PM me for a shipping address...

Well, I could be wrong.. but it appears to be 1 piece.

There is a hole in the bottom of it with threads inside..but I'm thinking that is to screw something into it..not it onto the ram.

So my solution was to remove the ram and flip it over. That solved my clearance issue.

From the ones I have seen, it is not threaded. There is a set screw on the left side of the ram that holds things in the hole in the ram.

To the best of my memory this is correct. Look for a set screw.

It is hard to believe that the round piece is part of the gear ram. If there is no fastener holding it, it must be pressed in. You can remove the faceplate then remove the whole gear ram assembly to inspect it more carefully.

^ Agree. OP, can you post a better picture of the ram / weight connection point?

The company is in Michigan. Call them. I bet they made it for a pacific operation who needed it. I know machinery is custom made for dertin manifacturing processes.
It could be pressed on but my bet it is screwed on. Call the company or send a phot to them by E and they should tell you exactly what you have and are dealing with in this press. It could be an in house custom fit job done after market.

Already did when I flipped the ram over. Appears to be one piece.

Flipping it solved my issue. But it is nice to have the option of a large pressing surface when needed.
