I want to get bulk hydraulic oil for my shop, and was wondering what the epoxy phenolic liner is used for in oil drums? Is that needed for oil? Or should I just get a regular no lined steel drum? Thanks all.

Who are you going to get the bulk oil from. They probably have drum with oil already in it. If you are a bulk user 30-50 or more gallons a week they might furnish tank, pump etc. They furnish them to tire stores all the time for engine oil changes and should furnish them for hydraulic oil also. A waste tank with pump out fittings looks like would be needed also if you are truly using a large amount of oil each week. Check around for different deals from all the major oil distributors, the deal will be different.

You need a clean tank, nothing special. As a side note I got away from bulk and shop for sales and stock up on buckets. I bought a barrel of gear lube because I got a super deal, got a couple big trucks used changes and still got 1/2 left.

I got off barrels, they were a problem and the small difference in price is worth the packaging and I never had much better than a farmer system anyway, use also went down over the years.

There are places a barrel is easy, easy to pump in to a pour container.

Well I wanted to take advantage of the sale that my dealer is having, buying the drum already filled would be $140 more, so I thought about just getting a drum, and having it filled. Just kicking around ideas right now. Thank you all for your input.
