I have an OTC balljoint press. Im going to change the balljoints in my jeep and its 4 wheel drive. Im going to need the OTC 4x4 adapter, right? Where can I get the correct adapter at?

I have the basic OTC set and bought the extra adaptor set from Harbor Freight. Used in a pro setting, they've held up fine and I have yet to find a balljoint the set won't do.

^ second that. Make sure the adapters are lined up nice and straight before you ram the impact on there, and even your cheap balljoint presses will last a long long time.

Okay thanks. I was reading around about people putting tension on the press/ball joint and then hitting it with a hammer.. Where are these people hitting with the hammer? The knuckle? The socket of of the BJ press?

they may be hitting the balljoint itself it really depends on how you have the press set up, basically the idea behind that trick is to shock the balljoint while the press has force on it, so if you hammer the adapter on the forcing side of the press, which should be against the balljoint it will help to pop it free. you may want to use a long big punch to do this. and this trick may not be nesscary the majority of ball joints the press does all the work for you.
