Assume detached garage is behind my house, about 30 feet away from the main sewer line in the basement of my house. If I want to add a bathroom to the detached garage, could I just run the sewer line from the detached garage into the basement of my main house and connect it to the sewer line there?
Or would I have to bypass the house and connect it to the sewer line in front of my house?
I've googled this and I saw one site that said the sewer line from an outbuilding cannot go into the main house, and must connect to the house's sewer line somewhere outside of the house. In my case, that would presumably be somewhere in my front yard, and that would be problematic because I would have to destroy (or tunnel under) my permeable paver driveway to get there. Whereas, if I could run it straight from the detached garage to the basement of my house, it would be relatively simple.
I'm in Virginia, if it matters.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
