. in the owners manuals of various tankless water heaters i am researching. they talk about adding a cleaning valve kit to the tankless water heater at time of installation, to make it easy to run vinegar through heat exchanger pipes
to descale the internal heating section of the tankless water heaters ...
.. and many tankless cleaning valve kits are available.
here is my question. some kits have 3/4" valving and some kits are listed as 3/4" ips thread valve kits . but none of the water heater manuals say anything about compatibility of threads or if they recommended the npt or ips threaded
valve kit. . or if both thread version can be installed on tankless... so i wanted to ask the forum and hear what others have to say .

Okay, my strong suit is electrical but I know enough about plumbing to be dangerous.

That being said; I think that the two terms, npt or ips, are interchangeable for all practical purposes.
