Question about quartz floor

I was lucky enough to win an epoxy garage floor in a raffle recently (cost me $20.00). Since it is a donation I'm not getting too much info from the guy and he is trying to fit me in between other jobs. Well, they started shot blasting tonight and he told me he was going to do a cheaper flake but has decided to do quartz instead. He said it would take longer since he had to do a couple more applications to it. I haven't researched it a lot but a question would be how good are the quartz floors and how long can I depend on it lasting. He also said it would be 1/8th" thick. By the way, my garage is about 625 sq feet. I know everyone who reads this is thinking what a dream it'd be to get your garage floor professionally done for $20.00. All I can say is I was REALLY lucky!!

Wow that is not a cheap floor. It's the high end of garage coatings.

IMHO a quartz aggregate floor is one of the longest lasting epoxy/resin systems you could use, and they are usually very attractive as well. You have a multitude of colors to choose from, and they can be mixed to create a unique color. It is a multi-coat process and I think would average about $5-$6 per square foot, so you are very fortunate indeed! Quartz systems will withstand high traffic with good impact resistance, and they dissapate heat well. They are a multi-coat process- primer, clear resin that the aggregates are broadcast into, possibly a second resin/broadcast to make the coating uniform, then a clear top coat over eveything the seal it all in. Becasue the aggregate is textured it is naturally anti-slip, so multiple top coats may be required to produce a smooth finish.

You probably don't want to press your luck, but see if the guy will topcoat it with urethane. Even if he charges you a little extra, it's worth it.

Thanks for the replies. Haven't shown up again today yet so they are definitely trying to fit me in, in between jobs. The bad part is everything from the garage is sitting out in the back yard. Guess I can't complain. I will post some pics of it when it is done. Anything special I should ask them? Originally the raffle said life time warranty since the company mostly does industrial jobs and he did say they were in the middle of doing a college. Life time warranty doesn't seem right though according to everything i've read here.
