I'm running electrical power to a remote shed (about 300 feet) and think that in the future I might want to put a camera down there. What type of wire/ cable would I need for this that would be suitable for direct burial? Thanks for looking.
depends what kind of cameras you are going to run, I would say just as a generic setup a coax 12v power cable would be ok, you can always use rca x coax adapters...
300' would probably put you over the the limit (328') for ethernet for an IP camera by the time you get from your switch to the camera, so wireless would work well in this case, assuming you have line of sight.
I'm not sure how far an analogue camera would work over coax, but that would be a cheaper option probably. You can also try a wifi camera, but those aren't very good even at short distances, 300' is probably too far.
300' is NOTHING for Ubiquiti devices! Get a pair of nano stations, plug them in and set them up! U use them as a wireless bridge between your shed and house!
I have a 450' run of that cable to my garage and see no drop in speed when I'm down there vs at the house. I know the internet says anything over 300' is too long, but mine works fine.
