Whos got the new Cornwell flier? There is a set on page 12 and I think I know what they are for but want to make sure. It's a 1/4 and 3/8 drive Tap Socket Sot. Not sure what "Sot" means or if it's a typo (Set maybe). Will this set allow me to use my ratchets on my taps? Particularly the ones that are too large to fit in my tap drivers? I have never seen any of these things before. Are there similar sets offered by the other dealers that I may have missed? Sorry I don't have an uploadable picture handy.

I got a set of the Craftsman 8 pt sockets, 5 of them. I have never seen them in stores though and never very large sizes. I got mine from an estate sale. I got NPT pipe tapes that measure nearly 1" square drive. No 8 pt socket I have ever seen was that large. Great idea though, thanks

Dang Merkava, that looks like the exact same set as pictured in the flier but for $10 less...if the manufacturer is the same I will still get them warrantied, not that they will ever break.

That set is made by Lisle and will work on anything with a square drive end like taps, screw extractors, etc.. I have saw a couple of those broken square in two when used on large size extractors so it might be worth a few extra bucks

That set is only for up to 1/2" tap, which has a smaller drive end. Craftsman 8 pt sockets go up to 3/4", which would be bigger than a 3/4" tap.

Either Craftsman goes big enough, or the set you want doesn't, which is it?

My Craftsman set does not go up to 3/4" so I would have to say my set is incomplete. Gonna check web site for the "rest of the story" on those 8 pt sockets before I make any purchase.

one other thing to add about that set, each socket has a rubber o-ring up inside it so that when you put your tap in and turn it upside down the tap stays in the socket and won't fall out. pretty handy in tight spots.

I already own the lisle set and use them often and they work great, your way will work just as well. I was just telling MachineTech a feature of the set he was asking about which is what the post was supposed to be about.
