I want to hang some stuff from the walls and eventually put up some wall studs. Is it ok to drill and to put screws, nuts, bolts into these cement walls:headscrat? I am like scared to do anything to it:confused:. There are some small screws to hold up electrical boxes and that is it. Please give me some advice and info!

I have the same poured walls that you do. You could make a french cleat and put that up near the top of the wall, then hang stuff down from that.

Use tap cons or something similar to hold the cleat to the wall.

Or, for all the time it will take you, just frame up a quick stud wall.

that is just a fancy cement wall and depending on what you want to hang off of it you have several options. i like tapcons, have had very few failures with them when done right. as far as framing over it, why? its already finished and strong as hell!

I have the same in my garage... while we are on this topic, is there an easier way to mount a peg board on such a wall other than mounting a few pieces of wood as backing first? Is that what a french cleat is?....

Ok, well I found these masonry bits in the pic below. I think I might actually already have some at home. I'll use them as long as it is safe to. I've got some more electrical boxes to put in there and some shelves to hang. I am just afraid of putting to many holes in the wall or going to deep in to the wall!

1, dont trip, that is a strong wall. one trick that ive found is if the tapcon strips, take a golf tee drive it into the hole cut it off flush to wall and use a regular screw, not quite as strong as a tapcon but close.

fro, no what your talking about is fir stripping and you have to do that agenst any wall for peg board. a french cleat is a 1 by riped at a 45 digree, bottom is attached to wall, top is attached to what ever your hanging.
