Question about the KRL722

I went and looked at a used KRL722 box that is three years old. I had a few questions that I was hoping someone on here might know.

The slide locks to keep the drawers shut look like they are made out of plastic. Do those hold up to every day use?

The paint(its yellow)..has quite a few chips in it on the top and the drawers....is this normal for this box, does the paint on these boxes not hold up to long? I ask because if all of the used ones I look at look like this I might as well get this one...nothing else is wrong with the box.

The guy is asking $2500 for the box. I had originally offered him $2000...stating if it was in perfect condition I would give him that for the box...but to me the finish on the box just isnt that good. Is $2000 for this box a good deal in your opinion?

Thanks in advance...

if someone yanks the drawers open it will break the lock and roll latches ( lifetime warranty on those )
you might be able to find a bigger box for about the same price the 722's sell for that or less around here. there is an epiq big box for 4500 locally for me.
the paint holds up real well.
offer 1400 only if it has the drawer liners in it and 2 keys and the brakes still work on the casters.

The paint on my 722 is holding up quite well but then again, it's not in a pro setting and I'm careful with it. I've whacked a ratchet or 2 on the top lip of the drawer by accident but that didn't even leave a mark. The latches are as good as any out there IMO. It took me just a few days to train myself to instinctively push the latch across while opening the door instead of just yanking on the drawer like I could do on my old box. The only real gripe i have with the box is that it isn't as deep as I'd like it to be but if you don't have any tools that are longer than 21 inches that you want to store front to back, you're good to go.

mrshaun...you mention the brakes working. The brakes on my casters have never worked correctly. Is it a design flaw? The box is on a level floor and never gets moved but the brakes still only hold marginally and will move a little if i bump up against it. I looked at upgrading to the iso-ride casters but holy **** they're pricey! almost cheaper to upgrade to a box that already has them!!

Imo Id hold out for a better deal. I got the krl7022 in my sig brand new off CL for 2k a couple years back.

That box will hold up in a shop np any krl will and the plastic lock and roll is somewhat durable.

one thing to consider is that the 722 is only 24 inches deep dunno if space is an issue but I much prefer the 29 inch depth of the 7022
