(I really didn't know which section to post this in...move the thread as needed)

So, I picked up a few HD 20% coupons off of ebay (from a seller with great coupon feedback, etc.) and was wondering what the usual deal is when using them at Lowes...do they hassle/question you at all? Anyone actually have personal experience with using these coupons? Any suggestions? :headscrat

My wife told me that the selling of coupons is no longer allowed on eBay so if you got the coupons, count yourself lucky, may not get another chance to buy them on eBay. If I'm wrong, let me know...is your coupon seller still in business?

She (wife) has successfully used HD coupons at Lowe's, and I don't recall her reporting any hasslementation. I'll double-check and report back.

My Lowes wouldnt take the HD 20% off, max they would give me was 10%. Word got 'round that the HD 20% coupons were "faked" and not to accept them. 10% was better than no %, so I didnt argue.

I also regularly have success using Lowes coupons at HD.

Two years ago, I bought a 20% off coupon on eBay and I went to HD to use it. Prior to loading up my cart, I asked at the service desk if it was good, and they told me yes. I filled the cart with insulation for my garage, and it was about $700 worth. Presented the coupon to the cashier, who asked at the service desk how to handle it. She was told to take the 20% discount, and a assistant manager came to her register to key in his number to allow the discount. As I was loading the insulation into my trailer, the store manager came out and asked where I got the coupon. I told him that it was a gift. He told me that these were for store employees only, and not transferable. I offered to return the insulation and cancel the transaction, but he said he was going to just let it slide.

I was wrong. My wife does NOT use HD coupons at Lowe's, she uses Lowe's coupons at HD. In her words: "HD coupons are much more rare than Lowe's coupons, so why would you want to use a valuable HD coupon at Lowe's?" She says she asked an HD cashier before checking out, and that when she checked out the HD cashier did not even need to check with a manager...it was apparently within the cashier's authority to do it. Hope that helps a little.

He told me that these were for store employees only, and not transferable. I offered to return the insulation and cancel the transaction, but he said he was going to just let it slide.

Yeah, that's how you do it. Give the manager the option to cancel a huge transaction and they'll almost always let it go...they want the money.

About a year ago I used an HD coupon at HD. Bought $500 worth of stuff and it only cost $400. Presented the coupon, they rang me up and I walked out, no problem. They are for store employees only. If anyone asks, tell them your spouse works for HD.

Thanks for the input...

So, I guess it's easy to say that putting something on layaway while using the HD coupon is not a good idea?
