Question about Wire between Meter Base/Disconnect and Panel

I can't seem to find anything actually specifying what is acceptable between the meter base/disconnect to the panel. Was wondering if THHN is acceptable, or if I need to use SER. I'd prefer to run 3/0 THHN, but can't find anything saying it is acceptable.

Some more info.

• 200A meter base/Disconnect
• 200A panel
• 200A panel will literally be on the inside of the wall where the Meter base/Disconnect is.

THHN or TWHN? I was asking about THHN, as that is what is available near me. I read about the conduit, and that was going to be the plan regardless.

THWN is THHN that is wet-rated, and cable sold as THHN may also be THWN.

If he says to use THWN, then you can look at cable being sold as "THHN" but double check it's wet rated.

THHN is for dry locations only, needs to be THWN to be used outdoors or in a underground conduit which are considered wet locations. Most THHN is dual rated as THHN/THWN but have to read the cable jacket to be sure.

I keep reading about this unicorn THHN single-rated wire, and have yet to ever encounter it. That's because both THHN and THWN are WAY outdated standards (just like NM, which is currently NM-B), but as with many conventions, these names never seem to disappear.

If you're buying new wire, it should be THHN/THWN-2.
