Question for a Snap On dealer.

My 8-19 6pt 3/8 drive socket set is your normal professional use socket set. They are functionally good yes but a missmatch set of current / old generation sockets as I bought an older generation and have replaced some as I lost them.

I wouldn’t mind swapping my set for a nice shiny new set and am expecting to pay something to do so, providing the cost is reasonable.

My question is:

Our shop does not have a Snap On guy for me to talk to but there is a Snap On guy that lives in my neighborhood, however I am yet to introduce myself to this guy.

I don’t want to go bug a guy I don't know at home unless I am ready to spend money right then. So I could have a cost idea, about how much should I expect to spend, or what would be a reasonable amount to offer to trade in a complete used set of mismatched sockets for a new set of the same?

You probably could get more by selling them here, but I do understand the coveinence of trading up.

I think you would be lucky to even get 20% off the new set for your old new mixed matched set..

Id just buy a new set and keep the old set for a spare, or for the truck/car, or whatever.

Just keep the mismatched set and use them, because in a couple years your new set will probally end up as mismatched set as well.

Yea, the more I think of it I would probably be ahead selling and just buying outright

Sell the mismatched set once or two pieces at a time on ebay

You would get the most money from your old set; by selling it on ebay. Keeping it is also a good idea; you will always end up needing it in a bind or when a socket breaks, your dealer comes later in the week... always seems to happen when you need it now!
