I have a 3400 3/8" drive and 4400 1/2" drive ratchets here I had passed down to me from my great grandfather. Did they ever make a 1/4 " drive ratchet in this style?

A quick guess and a little google shows that Wright made a 1/4" 2400.

Yup, which is apparently no longer available. Unlike its 3/8" and 1/2" drive brothers, it never came in the "tootsie roll" handle, it was knurled. It is a TINY ratchet too, you can cover the head of it with a dime!

You can only get a comfort grip in 1/4" drive now, the 2492.

Yup, they never made the 1/4" drive with a nitrile grip.

But, the 1/4" Wright ratchets are very, very nice, both the old and new ones. The head is TINY, as someone already mentioned.

Thanks guys I'm gonna keep my eyes open for one. I'm replacing the handles on my 3400 and 4400 with orange hard handles anyways since the tootsie rolls were shot. Anyone know the diameter of the knurl so I can look for a handle to go with it?

They shouldn't be knurled under the grip, at least mine wasn't.

Here's a thread where I overhauled a 1963 Wright ratchet and put on a new grip.

I don't remember the diameter of the handle, but it's basically guaranteed you'll have to drill the new hard handle to the correct size.

Wright is very good about warranty service. I wonder if you emailed them if they could send you just a replacement grip? Normally they would replace the entire ratchet, but if you tell them how they have sentimental value, perhaps they could provide a grip.

I might call them. I was referring to the diameter of the knurl on the 1/4" drive since they only came with that for the handle
