Are they covered under warranty still? Specifically if say a name was engraved and someone took a grinder to it? Worried about chrome flaking and rusting.
For all of the tool truck guys that I know, if the chrome chips due to usage, they will replace it. If it chips because you were grinding on it, it's your problem.
If it is engraved with ID, initials or numbers and it breaks or fails or has mfg. defective chrome issues other than the personal markings, I've seldom seen a warranty problem denied most of the time.
If you are trying to do a warranty on a tool just because of an engraving or someones attempt to remove it, then no. Never gonna fly.
No, I'm looking to buy a set of wrenches that has the owners initials ground off, and was wondering if there'd be issues with warrantying it if the chrome starts to flake. I should probably skip on this set by the looks of it then.
I have never had any problems when sending in a ratchet for parts even if it had engraved initials but if somebody takes a chrome socket and uses it on a air ratchet watch out because you might be out of luck ( Can you blame any company); I also don't think if you send in a wrench that has been ground down and it breaks on the grind area (then see above).
I only send in maybe one or two tools a year if that mostly for a re-build kit or a broken part.
I have never had a broken tool in 42 yrs you blokes must be buying some awful soft spanners/sockets.I have used my stahlwille on D8 tracks on M113A1 Diffs and track bolts The only problem with the sathl and my Gedore is some of the chrome is flaking off.
