I was just wondering what the level of interest would be if in the near future I started to offer complete sets of different sockets to fill a Hanson (sp?)
tray?

Would you like the tray included??

Just a thought. Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

I'm thinking if you were to offer the Hansen trays preloaded with Toptul sockets, you wouldn't be able to ship them out fast enough. :D

yes, and yes.

ide like to see both options.

for the standard ones you could buy the super cheap clearance ones from lowes, but they dont seem to make a standard version.

or see if you can get something similar form overseas as well.

i would be interested in one or both options.

I think it's a great idea to include the trays. I will be in the market for 1/4" metrics and 1/2" deeps once my shop is done.

To be honest though you will be hard pressed to pry me away from the domestic brands.

Still a great idea though!

Count me in as interested. Btw i used my snap ring pliers today on a range of Snap rings while tearing down some jacks and they feel very solid while extended, No sponge effect or bending. Very satisfied, To say the least.

His sockets are a WAY better option than Sears sockets, and I'm not referring to price either, I'm talking about quality. If Toptul can make a better socket than those penny pinching Sears bastards, more power to them!!

I think they would be a fantastic ideas. I hate having to buy individual sockets after buying a set to fill a tray.

Also Mike, would you ever consider piecing together a SAE wrench set that does not go all the up to 1-1/4"?

why? some of the older cars use some pretty big nuts for alignment purposes...you can never have a wrench too big or too many of em! :)

3/8"-1" is your standard SAE wrench set; any size bigger than that and I'd just as soon get them individually.

No, I wouldn't want the Hansen type racks. They take up too much space, they have sizes you'll never use like 20mm, and there's no way to modify them. I prefer the Ernst, Craftsman, or Matco type plastic rails with the square drive type retainer but, that's just me. The only thing worse than those Hansen racks are the posts from people trying to find a 20mm shallow and deep socket to fill their empty peg.

Do you own any Toptul sockets? Hell do you even own Craftsman sockets? More importantly, have you ever actually used either brand of sockets (polishing and displays of affection don't count as use)? You cannot honestly condemn one and praise the other without using them. Is this another attempt to score free tools through positive spin?:wtf:
I can't believe the man that used to put maps of China and Taiwan in their posts and abuse anyone not using US made tools is now singing the praises of Toptul. First you hopped on the Gearwrench train and now you want to be a passenger on the Toptul express. How times have changed you....

Pretty much what Merkava said sums it up for me :bounce:.

I really don't see why Toptul themselves wouldn't offer sets in SAE like they do in metric.

Your right though, can't have too many or too big

you may not need em...but they just might come in handy one day when youre frustrated and sweaty and nothing else is working...

i think they dont really have SAE sets is because theyre outside the US...AFAIK usa is still the only ones using SAE...everyone else uses metric or that UK standard

its nice though as i work in a chevy dealer...the new cars are pretty much all 8,10,13,15,18 and lugs are 21mm or 19.....so theoretically i can run around the shop with 7 sockets/wrenches and get 90% of the jobs done

WOW! Great idea. Count me in.

Socket sets and socket trays have always been like hotdogs (10/pkg) and buns (8/pkg).

Finally somebody's thinking.

I agree with your assumption and it makes sense being that Toptul has only recently started making it's presence in the states. I just figured it would be logical and simple to offer various size wrench sets :).

Bad idea/ and good idea.... here is why. hansen tray are good, but the bad part. I go to tech school,
I carry a Craftsman 3-drawer tool box(metal)
After all 2 months of driving from school to the house, and work...
After bumps, one of the pegs broke
The hanson are best for for a box that will not move.

True..... they take too much space... yep, just put 21mm instead of 20mm

uh...wow. I didn't expect such a quick and enthusiastic response.
If there are different trays with different characteristics...that makes things a little more interesting. If a few of you could send me emails (not PMs) telling me your favorites would be of help....that way I can research what I'm getting myself into.....!!! gulp

As for wrench sets, I carry a pretty good selection right now...of sae and metric in both finishes as well. To be frank, I have purposely priced my business to move volume so I tend to carry the larger sets since the prices are very reasonable IMHO.
For instance, the standard length, 15 degree combo set in SAE goes from 1/4 to 1 1/4
and is priced at $158 before discount.

sincerely,

TRTOOLSUPPLY,

Those little plastic things are just there so the store can hang them on a peg hook. I left them on so I can find them because I've got them stored in the drawer loose. The other sockets in the picture have a designated spot on a socket rail.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE WHOLE TIME?
But this is exceedingly more fun than committing a solecism or being accused of tool selling by nefarious solicitations!:)
