What do you call/how do you make, that BUMP/FLARE in a hydraylic (fuel water) typically an inch or so back from the end of the line, that keeps a hose clamped rubber line from slipping off?
Seems I have seen something on here recetly but for the life of me i dont know how to do that kind of Search, HELP

I usually just use my metric brake line flaring tool and make a bubble / ISO flare on the end, but don't tighten down on the tool all the way. It makes enough of a bump in the line that the clamp won't slip off. You could do a full flare also with same effect just a little harder to slip the line on and off.

Thank you sir!
I thought I saw someone on here recently post a tool/technique to create a retaining bulge or two about in inch back from the end.

I have a Mastercool tool that does that. I bought it to double flare brake lines and it also came with dies to make that crimp about an inch in from the end of the tube. The tool is not cheap but it does what it's supposed to so easy. I can make a double flare in a 1/8 brake line in under a minute!

Same here, I just use a regular brake flare tool and only do the first step. Sometimes i'll pull the line farther through then if I were going to do a real flare. sometimes it bends the line, sometimes not it depends on the material.

But any metal line that i'm going to attach a rubber hose to with a clamp get a slight bubble flare at the end.

Several on homemadetools.net site
Thanks Edt
I subscribe to Homemadetools.net, great site, my 2nd favorite, to GJ.
Don't mean to be stupid /helpless, but what kind of Search words would be helpful on sites like GJ or
Homemadetools.net site?

Well, I just looked and there are two under bead roller. Possibly others hiding elsewhere. I like the one by ASTRO and will probably be making a similar one soon. I have made a couple of clones of the EARLs style and they work well for what I am doing (1/2" and 5/8" thin wall steel and stainless), but each is for a specific id of tubing. The ASTRO one looks much more adaptable to many sizes, but I'm not sure it would like heavy walled stuff . We'll see.

The one made out of vice grips probably isn't going to fit inside 1/2 & 5/8 hydraulic lines.

Another way is to install a normal straight compression fitting, tighten it down real good and then remove the fitting and nut leaving just the ferrule crimped to the pipe.
