Hi guys,

Apologize for the noob post, I am *very* new to air tools -- we all started somewhere :)

Here's the situation, I need help with 2 questions -- please see below picture:

#1) Husky air hose question

My husky air hose on the left side has what appears to be a quick connect/disconnect adapter. This hose should be 3/8 in size, it resembles this product. I bought this use so I don't know how it comes stock in terms of the ends of the hose.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-3-8-in-x-50-ft-Hybrid-Air-Hose-575-50A-HOM/205332112

When I screw it on the brass thread you see on the left, it doesn't thread down all the way. It basically stops half-way no matter how hard I turn with my hand.

Do I have the wrong size quick connect? I don't know what size it is, but the quick connect part (Up top) fits the nail gun shown in the picture just fine (Once the quick connect piece is threaded half-way on).

I assume it is 3/8 like such:

If it's the right size, why doesn't it thread all the way down on the husky air hose end, do I need to use a wrench? Teflon tape?? Air obviously leaks because of the gap when I plug in the other side of this air hose into my compressor.

#2) Kellsport fluid film gun question

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0070WTGZG/?tag=atomicindus08-20

This question is for after #1 above is resolved. Maybe this is a question for the manufacturer, but I know there's a lot of smart people on GJ :)

I bought the Pro gun for Fluid Film application and I don't understand the thread on the gun. It's not a quick disconnect-type like the Porter Cable nail gun pictured. Do I need to unscrew that silver nut and put on the spare silver one I have in the picture (Same as the nail gun) ??

Thank you GJ'ers!

Thats how its supposed to be. National pipe tapered.

#2 take out the fitting in gun, put in the other steel fitting Make sure threads match on piece you took out to the one your putting in. We have some airless spray guns at work with non NPT fittings. Not sure about that one. I know its not airless but..never know.

Fittings starting from compressor:
On compressor, quick connect female, female threads - the brass fitting in your photo
On hose at compressor, quick connect male - The right side black end to your hose in the photo
On hose at tool, quick connect female, female threads - another fitting like the brass one in your photo - goes on the black end of your hose on the left in your photo
On tool, quick connect male with male threads - like on your air nailer

Be aware rhat there are 3 quick disconnect systems in use. Some fittings are made to work in more than one system. If you have a male and fenale that will not mate, that can be the problem. The threads on most tools are NPT, a tapered thread usually used with a sealant like teflon tape. Just tighten until snug. Do not attempt to force it further.
