Pictures don't do a great job of showing the buckling.... But looks like it is occurring at the plywood seams. What sheating was used and was it spaced properly?

Sheeting is 1/2” osb with the metal clips in between them. I sent the pictures to the builder and the roofer but they haven’t came and looked yet.

The builder texted me back and said it looks like the ice and water shield underlayment that was put on before the shingles is rolled up. We are hoping the roofer fixes it.

Is garage heated?
No I forgot to mention it’s a new build. We noticed it as soon as the shingles were put in and mentioned it and the roofer thought they would lay down once they got hot but they didn’t.

I can't imagine a fix other than tear off and new install. Hopefully they don't try to tear off and reinstall.

Ice and water is adhesive backed...if they screwed that up, they knew the entire time they were installing.

Good luck

Sheeting also requires an 1/8" gap at the **** joints. Think there was a big thread here about Zip or Advantek swelling and buckling at every seam due to a no gap install.

Here's mine. Adhered ice and water shield had bunched and buckled up at the sheathing joints. 3.5/12 pitch, so ice and water covering the entire surface. Fix was complete tearoff and new install. Not sure who ate the cost, but not me.

In my case, this didn't show up immediately. Best theory is expansion of the sheathing from when installed (winter) to when problems showed up (summer). Sheathing was put on pretty much coldest, driest time of year (i.e. sheathing was smallest it would ever be) - middle of winter, about 0F on the day it went on if I remember right. Shingles went down on a warmer day in March, sunny and mayby 40F. Problems started to show up June-July. Because the ice and water shield is adhered to the sheathing, it moves / stretches with the sheathing and all the "excess" bunches up at the joints and buckles upward. Luckily, the sheathing was gapped properly when installed, so the sheathing itself wasn't buckled.

Given that most of it is low, i'd suggest its the ice and water shield wasnt laid out nice and has large ripples in it which you can now see through the shingles.

I believe the buckles result from the sheathing expanding. The shearing was drier when the shingles were installed and now has expanded because of moisture absorbed. Shingles nailed on either side of a gapped seam are pushed up when the gap narrows. I think OP stated his were installed in colder (and drier) months and buckled in warmer (and more humid) months. Lack of ventilation and interior humidity (slab, stored firewood, other) can cause it also.
