Question on drilling glass

Few weeks back asked about drilling bottles and ya,ll told me what kind of bits to get.Got some carbide tipped bits,[4 pak]and size I want is 5\16.Question is do I start with small bit in bottle or go for the money to begin with?I,ve not messed with drilling glass before so I,ll ask experts.Thanks.Paul

If your asking if you should pilot drill it and move up in size, I would say no. Drill it the size you need (once).

I've had luck with the carbide spade tipped "glass" bits on ceramic tile, but not on glass.
Diamond is better.
Either way, keep it very wet and go very slow. No pilot hole.

Thanks gents,the carbide seemed to work fine,drilled 6 colored heavy wine bottles with no problems.Took it slow and sprayed with water.Wife will be happy.Paul
