Forgive me for posting up about a well trodden topic, but I have a HF bead roller I'm working on and am in the process of researching options for powering it.
I was looking at using an AC winch motor, but was wondering what it would take to make the motor reversible with controllable speed via something like a foot pedal with a potentiometer in it (for you music / guitar guys, I'm thinking a volume pedal would work great). The more you press the pedal down, the faster it would go, and rocking the pedal all the way back would stop the machine. Also similar in operation to a tig pedal I suppose.
My question is - what other equipment would it take to make this happen? I suspect I'd need some sort of variable drive but honestly the electrical side of things is not really my strong suit. Thanks in advance for any tips / advice.
