I've got construction in progress and all the exterior load bearing walls are in place. Now I need to add some interior walls for a shower stall, etc. I thought that would be simple until I read code citations for how to make T connections for interior walls.
I've looked through explanations about how to make a T intersection for a new interior wall/partition, but most are for completely new construction. I'm adding a new interior wall where I can't use a double top plate for a standard connection to the old wall, so I need to figure out the most code-compliant way to connect it.
I've attached a picture where you can see the old and new construction, and I need to construct non load bearing walls that come out perpendicular from this wall. The old construction was 2x10 joists and the new is 2x8, and the new ceiling height is taller, so nothing really lines up well in height.
Would horizontal ladder frame blocking across between the old studs be sufficient?
