My pole barn is going up this week, 24x36x12. I plan on doing blown in and probably liner panels for ceiling and I'm thinking either the wide rolls of fiberglass insulation for pole barns or just regular batts covered woth either osb or liner panel. Depending on cost of liner panel.
My question is on the walls. They're using house wrap under the siding for the walls.
1) Can I roll out the wide rolled insulation and put it flat against the wall perlins and then put up my bookshelf 2x4s to fasten sheets to? Or will the gaps defeat the purpose?
2) if I use batts or regular rolled, I was planning on putting it in horizontal in-between the wall perlins then taping seams.
My understanding is if they use the house wrap, then I wouldn't use faced insulation correct?

I'm leaning towards 24"x96" 6" thick batts at 57 cents sq ft. They only have faced though, they can order 6'x100' rolls of insulation but he didnt have pricing.

Where in Buffalo?
Are you heating it AC what are you planning on using it for.
I did mine with spray foam and love it. Radiant floor heat and I put in a apt unit in one of my windows for ac and quick heat.

Hamburg. I was quoted $10k for 2 inch spray foam. No thanks. I plan on heating but nothing crazy, 45-50° during the winter. Down the road though. This year is building, electric, hopefully concrete.
I don't have a problem using blown in for ceiling then prob either batts or large rolls of fiberglass. Just don't know about vapor barrier and house wrap

I'm looking at having a similar question answered, my dad, and I are having a 24x35x12 steel building put up with SW Florida. And looking to insulate it, because we plan to air condition it later down the road. The building supplier offers insulated walls, and roof for $4,000 extra.

Debating if its better for us to do it ourselves, hire someone, And what type of insulation would be best.

I used the wide rolls of insulation made for post frame construction. The company was (as of March) out of stock at my local supplier. Best decision I ever made in regards to my shop. Blew in insulation into the attic. Mine is 24x32x10’6” cost me 500.00 for my walls in 2020 I put a vapor barrier on the inside, the my perlins. IMG_6353.jpeg

Location? Did you cover your walls? Mine just finished up today. 3 days, 3 man crew 24x36x12. So I have house wrap between the metal siding and the perlins. Not taped. They used a 4ft roll for wainscoting and 8 ft roll for the rest. So theres obviously air leak around the whole building.
I need to know if I can use faced insulation for my walls or will the 2 barriers trap moisture? I can only get 4'x50' rolls of R19 at $ .57/sq ft. OR
I can get 1.5" 4x8 foam board. Second hand and they're asking $20/sheet.

Correction: 4'x50' R19 rolls are $200/each.
Another place has 2'x8' batts at $.57/sq ft. Faced.
