Question on insulating joists 4ft apart.

As it says I'm looking to insulate my 24x24 garage ceiling. The joists are 4 ft apart what options do i have?

Check with an insulation supplier that provides insulation for metal buildings as one of their lines. It will be avaliable in any width and thickness you want.

I rolled mine with 24 inch wide rolls that were butted together, then did loose insulation over top, seems to work.

Did you have gaps between the batts? A 24" O.C. stud bay is actually more like 22.5", so it seems like the batts would be too narrow?

I have done this. I just ran a bunch of 4' sections that I pre-cut and then one final 4' x whatever width for the last section... Then loose over the top.

You're saying that the ceiling is unsupported over a 4' span? And you expect that ceiling to support the weight of insulation? What is the ceiling made of?

I'd be more concerned that you have 4' centers than I would about insulating.

How about that blown in stuff with the machine from Depot. Doesn't have to look neat. with 4 foot centers your not going up there anyway.
